Ann was a daughter of Michael and Hanna Showers. She was included in the list of Loyalists and their families who had settled at Fort Niagara by December 1, 1783. On June 4, 1794 at Niagara she was married to Isaac Smith, a son of Joseph Smith and Mary Bonham.
They had children including Elizabeth Smith who married Ananias Smith; Hannah Smith who married Peter George Carson; Mary Smith who married Isaiah K. Millard; Joseph Smith who died young; John Franklin Smith who married Mary Rymal; Ann Showers Smith who married Jacob Rymal and then Joseph Shelton; Martha Smith who married John Warren Ryckman; Rachel Smith who married William H. Hull; and Isaac Alexander Smith who married Elizabeth Binkley.
After her husband's death in 1851 Ann was enumerated in the 1852 census of Flamborough West Township, Wentworth County, in the home of Abraham Warren Ryckman and his wife, Margaret Bradshaw. In that census Abraham Ryckman owned parts of lots 21 and 24 in concessions 3 and 4.
